There is currently a planning application (25/0510/PP) for an extension to Park Mains High school lodged with Renfrewshire Council.
Bishopton Community Council have objected to this, basically because we believe it is insufficient for the potential number if pupils from Bishopton/Dargavel. Also the monetary and environmental cost of bussing hundreds of pupils to and from PMHS daily.
The letter of objection is below, should you wish to object on you own behalf, please feel free to use any of the points made in our objection.

Ref Planning Application 25/0510/pp
Dear Sir,
I write on behalf of Bishopton Community Council to object to application 24/0690/PAN, for an extension to Park Mains High School.
This application is for the erection of a new 3 storey teaching annex, 2 story PE annex, a single storey dining extension to the existing PMHS.
We object to this proposal on the basis that the size of the extension is totally inadequate when you consider the potential intake from Bishopton and Dargavel.
Primary education provision from this area is, from BPS around 500 pupils, existing Dargave PS (design capacity 430) currently 500+, new Dargavel PS, design capacity 800, giving a potential accumulating yearly number of pupils to be bussed from Bishopton to Erskine of over 200pupils ( 1//7th1800 pupils) and potentially 1800 pupils from Bishopton/Erskine, over the secondary education’s 6 years.
The capacity of PMHS is to be capped at 2000 pupils, including the extension size of 400, which was determined when the proposed primary provision in Dargavel was for 430 pupils. This is now totally inadequate for a potential 1800 pupil contribution from Dargavel
We also object to this application on financial and environmental grounds The cost, in monetary terms to bus anything up to 1800 pupils to and from Erskine is astronomical. The environmental cost is incalculable!
In addition to this, we feel that the whole process of this application to be flawed, with the Council making decisions on this extension before the latest census information was released, and before the latest forecast of pupil number from their consultants “Edge Analytics” was available. This amounts to the misrepresentation of material facts to the elected members prior to decision taking.
Yours faithfully,
John Mackintosh
